Lisa Lenke Sousa

Born in the San Francisco Bay Area as the youngest of three children, Lisa Lenke Sousa moved to the Inland Northwest at a very early age. It was also the time that she began an interest in music when she first heard Dvorak's 9th Symphony (The New World Symphony). With the exposure to different genres of music and attending the concerts of her siblings, her musical interest grew, and by the time she was 7 years old, she chose the Horn as her instrument. Growing up in Spokane Valley, Washington and graduating from Central Valley High School, she attended Spokane Falls Community College and later Eastern Washington University as a Music Major.

After receiving her Bachelor of Music Degree and marrying her husband, Tim Sousa, she held the 4th Horn in the Walla Walla Symphony Orchestra in Walla Walla, Washington, and the Substitute 4th Horn Position for the Mid-Columbia Symphony Orchestra in the Tri-Cities (Pasco, Richland, and Kennewick), Washington for two seasons. A few years later, Lisa returned to Eastern Washington University to pursue Graduate Studies, earning a Masters Degree in Music in 2000.
After receiving her Master's Degree, she continued her Freelance Music career, and in Spring of 2005, joined the Coeur d'Alene Symphony Orchestra sharing the 4th Horn position. In the summer of 2006, Lisa won a permanent spot in the orchestra. She is honored to play in the Coeur d'Alene Symphony very much and loves working with its members. In 2015, Lisa started a new pursuit of composing and arranging music for small ensembles. Her music can be found on the website Sheet Music Plus under the name, Lisa Lenke Sousa (a combination of both her maiden name, Lenke and her married name, Sousa.)
